Sometimes 280 Characters is Not Enough

So I did this thing today! I started a blog!

I started a blog because sometimes 280 characters is just not enough to get out what I want or need to say.

If you follow me on Twitter you know that I am very opinionated, and I wanted a space where I could expand on my thoughts about this nightmare administration. There will probably be a little parenting thrown in too because well…that’s my life 🙂

About Me…

My name is Lisa, and I am 40 years old. I was born and raised in Michigan and have been here my entire life. I am first and foremost a Mom to my 4 amazing kids. My life and everything I do revolves around them, and the reason I joined the resistance in the first place (more about that later). I am a SAHM and have been for almost 10 years, I am also in the last couple of semesters of getting my bachelor’s degree. I figured while I am home, I might as well go to school!

I married my husband 12 years ago, and we have had 4 kids along the way. Our boys are 11,9,6 and our daughter is 3. We did not intend to have 4 kids but in case you were wondering the pull out method is not an effective form of birth control. Our mighty princess was not planned but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

My oldest son is super smart. It is sometimes a challenge for me to keep him engaged and his brain busy. He is also a pre-teenager so we are navigating all those new emotions and feelings. He was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy when he was 2 so he has added the hat of food allergy mom for me too.

My next oldest is completely into sports, he just has this natural athletic ability. We are just finishing up with the 4th baseball team he has played on this year, and are in the middle of soccer season. It is because of him you can normally catch me at some kind of field regardless of the season pretty much every day. The only thing I can hope from all this time and money is that he gets a decent scholarship to college one day because the cost of sending 4 kids to college is sometimes overwhelming.

My next son, Alex is and will always be my baby. Alex has had several medical challenges sine he was born, but you would never tell by is infectious smile and laugh. He really is the sweetest boy ever, and I would challenge you to not smile in his presence. Alex had his first 1st seizure just before his 2nd birthday. He has since also been diagnosed with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. What this essentially means is that the highway between the right and left side of his brain does not function like yours and mine. He will likely need a little extra support during his life when he learns new things. He has had, and responded well to the therapies he has had so we are very optimistic about his future.

And then there is my daughter… If you thought I had an attitude and was snarky from my posts, you’ve seen nothing yet. There is no doubt that she is my daughter, and she keeps me on my toes!

Why Did I Join the Resistance?

It is simple really…. My kids

I hate what our country is becoming, and I refuse to be silent with my opinion and views. I am also scared for my son Alex, and what will happen with his healthcare if the GOP has their way. Pre existing coverage protections are being threatened, and that scares the fuck out of me.

I think we have a responsibility as Americans to keep calling this president out for his actions because none of this should be normalized. We have to put our voices and platforms to work to ensure that 2020 is a big year for democrats. There is no reason we can’t take back not only the presidency, but the senate too.

So to sum this all up, I’m really just a mom who wants to make sure this world is a better place for my kids than the world I grew up in.

I will still be tweeting, so if you are not following me there please do! @Lisastark351
